Q:will this cupola fit a 4/12 pitch roof?

Answer This Question

A:  Jim: Yes, you cut the base to match the pitch of the roof. Instructions are very good for doing this. Good fishing in the Manistee? Sandy

A:  Because the bottom edge is not pre-cut, it must be cut to fit the pitch of the roof on which it is to be installed. Plan ahead on this to be sure you will be able to make the cut without severely weakening the cupola. An alternative is to build a box to fit the roof pitch, then mount the cupola on top of that. Be sure to add flashing to adequately shed water.

Q:How do you mount a weathervane to the top?
by|May 20, 2013

Answer This Question

A:  I would expect the weather-vane kit should have instructions for this. Personally, I would be concerned about messing up the copper roof. It comes fully wrapped to avoid getting finger prints on the copper during installation, with instructions to only remove the plastic wrap as the final step.

A:  The Suncast Claremont Cupola with Copper Roof Model LCC was not designed for a weathervane, Ken. We have no instructions for adding one. It would require modification to the cupola, negating any warranty. Thank you for your interest in Suncast products.

Q:How do you recommend attaching the Suncast Claremont Cupola to the roof? Does the top come off so it can be attached from the inside?

    Answer This Question

A:  The Suncast Claremont Cupola with Copper Roof is assembled as a unit with the roof attached. The base of the cupola is fastened to the roof of the shed with hardware that is supplied with the kit. Thank you for your interest in Suncast products.

A:  The top of the cupola is separate from the body, so attachments from the inside are easy and recommended. I added flashing which extended outward over the roof a few inches to be sure water is carried away, then used flashing/gutter adhesive from the inside to attach it to the roof. If putting on a roof exposed to high winds, I would consider adding "L" brackets inside.
