A:  Where the heat exits the units, yes, it is hot to the touch. Mainly the top half of the unit, where the fins are and the heat comes out.

Q:In reading the product description it references the ability to use a wall mounted thermostat (line, not low voltage) to operate the unit but installing it now I am not seeing the connection point and it does not cover this in the installation manual. Am I missing something? "The built-in thermostat has a selectable temperature range from 41F to 86F, and will work with an existing wall-mounted thermostat"

There is a pdf on our website on how to install this heater with an external thermostat: https://www.stiebel-eltron-usa.com/sites/default/files/pdf/tsb-ck-cns-thermostat-wiring-guide.pdf

A:  I used a line voltage thermostat and it works great. Basically you run the wiring thru the thermostat on the way to the heater. I turned the onboard heater thermostat up high and use the wall thermostat.

Q:Will a ceiling fan make the unit spread heat throughout the room faster, or will it 'work against' the natural convection of the design?

        Answer This Question

A:  It would seem very likely the fan would help move the air around the room.

        by|Apr 18, 2020

A:  We use one that is set so it sucks air up which you would call reversed. On low it seems to work quite well. Even without the fan the heat distributes fairly well but each room is different.

          Answer This Question

A:  There is an on / off button on the right side of the unit. There is also a thermostat on the top right side of the unit that goes from 45 - 86 F

A:  On top, on the right as you face it. If I were to do it over, I would install a line voltage wall mount thermostat. Just a little more accurate and convenient.

            by|Dec 3, 2019

A:  This unit has a switch on its side and has an integral thermostat for easy heat adjustment. In larger rooms, a single unit or multiple units can be controlled by a wall thermostat.

                by|May 4, 2023

A:  No, these are not operated on timed controllers.

                  by|May 4, 2023

A:  Yes and No You need to make sure you have a LINE type thermostat that actually switches the AC supply voltage such as those used to control baseboard heaters. A common thermostat such as a Nest or whatever will not work unless you have a 24AC contactor installed to switch the AC power to it from the thermostats low voltage 24VAC output. An electrician could do that.
