A:  I installed that unit in a 7’x7’ bathroom and run it at approximately half power ( in Wisconsin) and warms the room just fine for my tastes.

A:  We use 10 watts per square foot for sizing, so 100 square feet

Q:The instruction manual stated that the wall needs to be heat rated to 185 degrees. sheetrock is rated for 125 degrees F. What do I need to put between the wall Sheetrock and the heater?

        Answer This Question

A:  Sheet rock can be rated up to 185 degrees. The only place you will feel the heat is where it comes out the front grate. The air comes in front the back which keeps that area cool too.

A:  We didn't put anything although we don't run the heaters very high. Probably 4 is the highest setting we use but mostly 2-3 seeing. I've used these heaters for five years with no problems to the sheet rock walls.

A:  The bracket supplied will keep the heater away from the wall about and inch or so. I have ran 2 of them for a couple of winters now. Perfectly safe from what I can see.

                Q:what thermostat would we use

                Answer This Question

A:  Not sure if any thermostat would work with this heater. It has a built-in 1-5 dial for you to set up the "temperature". My bedroom is about 200 sqft with pretty bad insulation. 3-4 would give me 71-73F after turning it on for 40 minutes, while outside temperature in the upper 20s to upper 30s F.

                  Answer This Question

A:  I use an outlet thermostat. There is a built in thermostat on the heater itself too. But yes, you can use a wall mount thermostat.

A:  The Stiebel Eltron website doesn’t address wall mounted thermostats so I take that to mean the heater isn’t designed for that. If you go to their website and find the installation instructions you will see that. The 1000 watt convection heater has a Frost Protection setting to turn the heater on if the room temperature drops below 45 degrees Fahrenheit. Trust the factory instructions and good luck.

A:  The unit has an effective internal thermostat. I would not recommend remoting the thermostat. You should keep it close to the heat source since there is no forced air movement.

A:  There isn't a separate thermostat. The unit has an on/off switch that also has an adaptable temperature control but it's static, not a thermostat.
