Q:What is the best way to store the door until we can put it up??
by|Feb 5, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: You can follow these steps to help protect door while it is being stored.
Climate-Controlled Environment:
Store the door in a climate-controlled environment to prevent extreme temperature fluctuations. Fiberglass can expand or contract in response to temperature changes, so maintaining a consistent climate is important.
Elevate and Support:
Elevate the door off the ground using wooden blocks or pallets to prevent direct contact with the floor. This helps to avoid moisture absorption and potential damage.
Cover and Wrap:
Cover the door with a breathable, moisture-resistant material like a canvas tarp. This protects it from dust and moisture while allowing some air circulation.
Avoid Direct Sunlight:
Store the door away from direct sunlight, as prolonged exposure to UV rays can cause fading and damage to the fiberglass surface.
Horizontal Storage:
If possible, store the door horizontally to prevent warping. If you must store it vertically, make sure it is well-supported along its length to prevent bending.
Secure Storage Area:
Choose a secure storage area to protect the door from potential theft or vandalism.
Regular Check-ups:
Periodically check the stored door for any signs of damage or changes in its condition. This allows you to address any issues promptly.

Q:Is it better to leave the door in frame or take door off and put frame up first??
by|Feb 4, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Bore Locations: From top of door down 40-3/8" to center of deadbolt bore, from top of door down 45-7/8" to center of lockset bore. You should have a 5-1/2" bore spacing between the center of deadbolt and center of lockset. Bore holes are 2-1/8" with a backset of 2-3/8". Hinge locations are from top of door to top of first hinge 6-1/2 in., second hinge 37-1/2 in., and third hinge 68-1/2 in. If you current opening measures the same as above you will not have an issue. You can also visit your local Home Depot for special order options. If they don't match installing the entire unit would be easier.
