A: This hinge will work for both types of doors but is more specifically for interior doors. The weight limit for is 36lbs per hinge. This hinge works ideally on doors 36" wide by 80" tall.

A: Yes, but you need to install 3 hinges on solid doors (top, middle, bottom) that are 1 3/8 inch thick.
If the solid door is thicker (1 3/4 inches) you need to get the 4 inch hinges (with 4 screw holes) and you'll still need 3 hinges.

It's not a net 2 inch increase.
