A: Hi klatall,
You can use wall rail brackets mounted according to building code, which is attached to the wall with the screw going into a stud behind drywall. The rosette can act as a trim piece but it should also be attached to the wall and into a stud behind drywall.

Q:I require a length of conventional unfinished red oak handrail at least 14 feet long and black iron balusters that will install between the treads and the hand rail. I would like to see samples of the balusters and understand how they install.

Q:Is this a solid piece of red oak? Are their finger joints? Is there a core that is from a different piece of wood?

A: Hi Trevdawg122, these handrails are not a solid piece of red oak. And that is by design. Solid wood (ie: one piece of wood milled into handrail) would be very susceptible to bending, breaking, warping, twisting, etc. Our handrails are made from solid pieces of wood, glued together, to form one block. Then, that block is milled into a shaped handrail. This produces a strong, warp and twist resistant, handrail that will last a lifetime

Specifically, this model of handrail has solid pieces of wood surrounding an oak hardwood core. The joints are called "feather joints," a patented process that mimics the grains of wood. We do sell finger-jointed handrails in select regions of the country, and it can be ordered through Home Depot's special order program. If you have additional questions, we'll reply as quickly as we can. Thank you.

A: it is not solid. it has a core that is a different kind of wood. it was very easy to work with. We also got a sliced length to make a curved segment pieces it with a straight segment. we used a straight piece for the wall bannister. Required a little finish sanding but all in all turned out GREAT.

A: It’s solid oak...no finger joints and no non-oak core.
