Q:On the poplar post is the cap and trim made from red oak?

A:  No, the post is made entirely of poplar, including the cap. They include a pointed and a flat cap.

    A:  Hi Matt, the cap and trim on these newels are made from Poplar, not Red Oak. That said, we do offer separate red oak cap kits (Item# 1000383187). You'll have to remove the poplar cap and trim, and replace it with the red oak. If you have additional questions, we’ll reply as quickly as we can.               A:  you would probably have to cut one in half with your table saw, just tack a straight edge board to the side

                  A:  Melody, this newel post comes with the top trim and two different newel caps. You will receive a pyramid cap, and a square cap. Install the one of your choice, and discard the other. If you have any other questions, we'll be happy to help. Thank you!
