Q:Have an RV with 30 amp system 120V. Need to plug it in at home. The home load center is a Homeline HOMC42UC series S01. I do not believe Square D (Schneider-Electric) makes a single pole 30amp GFCI. Would this breaker be a suitable substitute if only one side is used?

Answer This Question

A:  Most of the time two pole breakers feed two circuits. Wires go into a junction box and split to diferant directions breaking into two circuits. Is very possible the breaker will work normally using one side if breaks trip possible grounds and neutrals mixed

A:  Hello, Yes, you can use the HOM230GFI in a 120V application. Use the pole which contains the test button, otherwise the test button will not work. Connect the pigtail and load neutral per instructions. Regards.

A:  I've done the same thing and it works fine. In my case, I decided to also run the neutral line through the second pole. It doesn't seem to make a difference whether the neutral line bypasses the breaker or goes through it. The only difference is that when you switch off the breaker, it acts as a double-insulated switch to the RV.

      Answer This Question

A:  No. It will not work without a neutral conductor. FYI... You do NOT need to GFCI protect a hot water heater nor should you. A standard 2 pole breaker is all that is required per the National Electrical Code.

A:  It is designed to protect a 240V GFCI circuit. In my case a large industrial motor. Works great!

        by|May 2, 2019

A:  1.The two hots go to load 2.Pig tail on breaker goes to grounded neutral bar in panel 3.Load ground wire to panel ground 4.Press test button to check 5.Load neutral connection on breaker left open if there is no load neutral The recommended wire size is 12-4AWG Aluminum or 14-6AWG copper Regards, Customer Care

A:  This breaker is designed for the protection of entire branch circuits in damp locations. The breaker has a load maximum of 240-Volt. It also has a 10,000 maximum air. You may also read the instructions/assembly under Info & Guides to give you an idea on installations.

                      Answer This Question

A:  Both are the same ground-fault breakers. The GFI suffix has the breaker coming in our standard package quantity of one. The GFIC puts the breakers in the Clamshell packaging for Retail. There is one breaker per clamshell, but comes to the distributor in an overpack of three. Regards, Customer Care

Q:Is this CB a direct replacement for a standard 30-amp double-pole breaker? I want to upgrade to a GFCI breaker, but before ordering, I'd like to confirm that I'm looking at the correct item. The CB that I presently have, that I'm looking to replace, is shown to the right in the attached photo. Thank you.

A:  Be aware that there is no such thing as a 'standard' circuit breaker. Your included image is indeed a Homeline Square D breaker and panel, so this GFCI breaker will work for it.
