Q:Per the description it states "Can be used in the place of CMP, CMR, CMG, CM and CMX cables". CMX means the cable has an outdoor rated jacket. Is it safe to run going through the wall to a security camera mounted on the wall of the exterior?

A: Hi Gabriel.
Thank you for shopping at the Home Depot.
According to the manufacturer, this cable is for use in walls and under raised floors for computer and data wiring. It does feature 4 pairs of copper conductors and PVC insulation, but it is designed for indoor use only.

Answer This Question
A: Hi Regi,
If it is totally enclosed in conduit, then yes - it will be fine. If you are asking about just burying it as it is, then no - it is not designed for that. Direct burial cable is often jacketed in a black insulating layer, is pretty thick, and expensive. With that said, if you bury this cable - it will work for you but for an undeterminable period of time. I have run regular Cat 5e cabling outside between buildings with it exposed to UV light and it has worked for more than 10 years. I've also buried it and never had it fail after 5 years. At some point though, it will fail when the elements get to it.
