A:  Southwire does not make connectors however there are a number of other manufacturers that do. I do not know of specific connectors for this application, however it would be best to consult a connector manufacturer.

Q:What is the exact outer diameter of a single conductor including insulation? I see 0.315in listed as overall in the datasheet, but that sounds overly thick.

A:  I think if you have a small setup that is rated for 12v, you could. I did and it was fine.

Q:can this wore be encased in concrete steps

          Answer This Question

A:  I don't see how the concrete would effect the wire especially since there would not be any oxygen. If I were you I think I would put in a piece of conduit. Even a 1/2 schedule 40 would work great. Put it in so that it reaches from side to side or you could even use an angel to have it come out the back into the room that the steps lead into. You need to have your wire so that it can be removed , exchanged or upgraded. This would also give you a conduit for any other type of wiring in the future. Think ahead to future uses.

          by|Aug 16, 2020

A:  I would not recommend this. I would place a PVC sleeve first and then run the cable through the sleeve. This will protect the wire and allow you to replace it later if you need to.

A:  Identical. Low voltage does not distinguish polarity for lighting

A:  You can tell them apart. One wire has printing on it, the other does not.

A:  This is low voltage wire so you should be getting a shock. But the answer to your question is YES the wire is marked. Usually there is a rib running down one of the wires and the other the jacket is smooth and sometimes there is a white stripe down one side depending on the manufacturer. I hope this helps. If you splice the cable, be sure you use waterproof connectors.

                            by|May 19, 2020

A:  The cable is similar to regular "zip cord" in that, while both sides look the same, one side has a smooth jacket and the other has a ribbed jacket so you can assign polarity if needed.
