Q:Is this single tube product the same as the dual-tube (side by side) dispensing?
by|Sep 9, 2023

Answer This Question

A:  Hi CHSbuilder, thank you for your message. The SET-XP 8.5 oz. is the same adhesive as the SET-XP22 oz. The only difference is the size of the container and the type of dispensing tool required. If you are using the SET-XP 8.5oz, a regular caulking took can be used to dispense the adhesive. We also offer a higher end dispensing (CDT10S) tool in case you are interested. If you need more information or have additional questions, please contact the Simpson Strong-Tie Customer Service team at 800-999-5099. We look forward to hearing from you.

Q:Can this product be used for diving board anchor bolt?
        by|Jul 3, 2023

        Answer This Question

A:  Hello Steve, SET-XP® High-Strength Epoxy Adhesive is a structural anchoring adhesive typically used for commercial and residential anchoring. Before using the adhesive for anchoring down your diving board you may want to consult with an engineer to determine if the force applied through the board into the anchors will be resisted by the adhesive based on how deep you can install the anchors. If you have any other questions please reach out of Simpson customer support at 800-999-5099. -Stacy

Q:Can this caulk be used to reattach swimming pool tile that came loose? If so, would the bond last in this submerged pool for a long time?

A:  Hello Jennaveve, this is Ricardo with Simpson. I think our SET-3G epoxy would better serve your application. A couple of things worth noting. Although this epoxy is tested for structural applications with concrete, it should still work with tile. Also, you would want to make sure the proper installation procedures and cure times are followed. If you have any questions on cure times and installation, please feel free to call us at 800-999-5099.

            Answer This Question

A:  Hello Moneymaker, my name is Colin with Simpson Strong-Tie. SET-XP10 is an anchoring epoxy. It is not designed to seal cracks. I do not have enough information in this forum to suggest a product for your field condition. I suggest you review all of our chemical injection epoxies to determine if we have a solution. Go to strongtie.com, in the Search Strongtie.com field at the top of the page enter C-A-2021. Open our Anchoring, Fastening and Restoration Systems for Concrete and Masonry Catalog and review pages 208-229. If you need more information or have additional questions, please contact the Simpson Strong-Tie Customer Service team at 800-999-5099. We look forward to hearing from you.

Q:Would this epoxy limit the risk of cracking bricks when using anchors on hollow core brick (knowing I may need multiple tubes for a project) on an exterior steep structure?

              Answer This Question

A:  Hi Johnny, this is Colin with Simpson Strong-Tie. In general, epoxy anchors will reduce the risk of cracking during installation and loading compared to expansion anchors. For installations into brick, we recommend our ET-HP epoxy with the proper screen tube. Please refer to our website for more installation information into brick or contact us at 800.999.5099.

A:  Hi Will, this is McKenzie from Simpson Strong-Tie. Our technical data for the SET-XP is specifically for threaded rod and rebar anchored into concrete. For any other applications we would not have any technical data to support that installation.
