A:  Hi, Karl, this is McKenzie from Simpson Strongtie. A nominal 2x4 would measure 1.5" width x 3.5" on the height. The LUS24-2 has a width of 3 1/8", and the height would be 3 1/8 as well.

Z-stands for our premium Zmax finish that is suitable for a medium corrosive environment such as most pressure treated lumber chemicals and fresh water (rain) exposure. The LUS210Z hanger installed into Douglas Fir or Southern Pine lumber with 0.148"x3" (10d) angled shear joist nails and 0.148"x1-1/2" (N10d) face nails provide 897 lbs of uplift and 1,028 lbs of download capacities. If you choose to remove the N10d face nails and replace them with SD#9 x 2-1/2" face screws Simpson does not have any tested published allowable load values for this combination.
