A:  Probably to a limited extent. I use these 10 mil thick tarps to cordon off my chiminea during the winter time to keep winds from stealing the heat produced. They are very STURDY & come packaged in a small form so are easily stored in a vehicle until needed. The silver side is not reflectively shiny(like a mirror) but more of a dulled silver surface that will protect from sun heat to a limited degree in moderate temperatures (less than 90F @ moderate humidity). In Fla during a hot day(95F) & 70% humidity in direct sun very little will reflect the heat but a well insulated enclosure with a good A/C unit.
