A:  So I called Shaw's technical phone number and was told the top layer is 2 mm and it can't be refinished. I seriously don't understand why Shaw didn't answer this question on Home Depot's website and redirected me to their phone support. Lazy Shaw rep! I ordered one box of this product to examine it and it is absolutely beautiful. I understand the price. It is much more distressed and has more depth than the Home Legend Distressed Kinsley (Store SO SKU # 631689) and it is darker too (closer to a true walnut while the Kinsley brown is more amber). The top hickory layer on the Kinsley is 1.2 mm. Now I have to pick which one to go for.
