A:  I think the main purpose of this part is to connect to male faucet fittings, which are brass or bronze. I don't know what else it would be used for.

A:  It's actually 1/2" female swivel. Just received mine; the ad says it's 3/8 X 3/8 but it is not.

A:  It's 1/2" FNPT. I have no idea why SharkBite and Home Depot insist on labeling it as 3/8" x 3/8" online when the packaging clearly indicates 3/8" x 1/2".

A:  Just returned two of these. Description and specs incorrectly say 3/8 pex and 3/8 fpt. The threaded end is actually 1/2" pipe.

A:  Hi, Yes, this fitting has Female National Pipe Threads which is the same thread type as PVC.

A:  I used this over a threaded 1 in. NPT pvc pipe connection that came with my whirlpool water softener. I used teflon tape during installation. I have had no leaks. I am pleased with the ease of installation. NPT(National Pipe Thread)
