Q:Difference between 2" Sharkbite Push fit 'Straight' coupling & the 2" Shark Bite Push fit 'Slip' coupling?

Answer This Question
A: The straight coupling is not considered a repair coupling. A slip coupling has a slip end, which can be pushed farther on down the pipe to allow for tight spaces and then be pulled back to connect to the other pipe and to close the gap that is usually cut out where there may have been a pinhole leak in the piping for example. If you would like to join a new line to an existing a 2" coupling should do the job. But, as i see above, you are using PVC. SharkBite fittings are not certified or warrantied for use with PVC pipe, only copper, PEX and CPVC.

A: SharkBite fittings are certified for use with Copper, CPVC, and PEX. The SharkBite 2" Slip Coupling is used for a repair on copper or CPVC. Because these pipes are a rigid and are not easily movable, using the slip feature you can slide the fitting onto one pipe and slide it back to connect the other.
