Q:I have copper pipe that measures slightly over 1/2 inch outside diameter, which means the inside diameter is 1/2 inch. Does this 1/2 inch push to connect shut-off valve fit a copper pipe that's 1/2 inch inside diameter?

A: I just double checked 1/2 copper pipe is 1/2 inside and 5/8 outside
So yes it will work
I have used shark bite fittings many times they are great

A: I'm not going to say it won't, per se, but I've been told never to mix materials in plumbing. There are PVC valves just like this.

A: No, It works with 1/2 Copper tubing with 5/8'' outside diameter. Also 1/2'' CPVC (copper tube size) which also has a 5/8'' outside diameter (does not fit PVC or CPVC pipe size they have a 3/4'' plus outside diameter.) It also fits 1/2'' Pex tubing again it will have a 5/8'' outside diameter. * Note: 1/2" is a Very approximated size of the Inside diameter of the pipe or tubing. Refrigeration tubing is measured by the Outside diameter of the tube, Just to confuse!
