Answer This Question
A: If Scotts Turf Builder Weed & Feed was applied to a lawn type that is not listed on the label, only watering will help. Water the lawn immediately. Continue to water the lawn at least a ½ inch of water every 2 to 3 days for at least 2 weeks. Generally damage will show up within a few days to a week of the application.

A: Hello Susie, unfortunately St. Augustine grass is one of the semi-tropical grasses that are sensitive to the weed killing components in Weed and Feed. It is likely that the lawn will yellow up and die over a two-week period. You might try over-watering the lawn to dilute the W & F, but since the weed killer in the product is a systemic acting product I think you will lose the treated lawn. Best recommendation is to allow the W&F to affect the lawn, then rake up the yellowed grasses and rotovate the exposed soil. You will need to wait about three to six weeks (longer is better) before you can re-seed the lawn with St. Augustine grass if that is your choice. Sorry to bear bad news but that's why they say when all else fails to read the instructions on the bag. Good luck with your lawn renovation! Dr. A.
