A: Hello. It is possible to put over your wood post as the post is hollow. The post measures 4" all around and each side is 1/8" thick.

A: Probably not. That is it would fit over the post BUT this post needs to be countersunk into the ground almost 2 feet in order to end up with the mail box at a height of 41-45" off the ground. Otherwise, you will have one of the highest mail boxes around. Mine is countersunk & the top of the post is over 5 ft high. Hope this helps.

A: Hello. The post is hollow. If you choose to install this post as is, a 4x4 is not needed if it is installed as shown on the instructions on the link provided.
