A:  Hi. For minor stains we recommend just spot cleaning but for more thorough cleaning we recommend to consult a rug cleaning professional that uses not liquid based cleaners. This rug pile is made of 100% acrylic and the backing is made from cotton. Thank you for your inquiry.

      Q:How does this rug compare to the Santa Monica Shag in look and feel? Trying to decide between the two. Thank you in advance.

      A:  Hi Nancy. The two rugs are different in the pile height, material and overall density in the weave. The Classic Shag Ultra is made from 100% acrylic with a 1.75 inch pile height, it is less dense than the Santa Monica Shag which is made with part polypropylene and part polyester and slightly higher in pile and denser in the weave.         A:  Hello. All rugs shed as a natural occurrence. We recommend vacuuming at least 1-2 a week, depending on the traffic. Please vacuum using a brushless vacuum with beater bars.
