Q:I ordered the 3x20 brown rug and it is beautiful but it has many ripples in it from the way they rolled it to ship it.. Will the ripples go away? What can I do to help them lay flat? It?s a very long rug for the hallway.

A:  Hello! Here are a few suggestions you may want to consider to reduce the creases/waves/wrinkles/kinks: Back rolling/ Reverse rolling the rug - Unroll the carpet and roll it up again in the opposite direction. To keep it secure, place heavy furniture on the rug while back rolled/ reverse rolled to keep it from unraveling. (Leave it back rolled for 1-3 days). || Use indoor rug/carpet tape- tape down corners of the rug to secure and flatten the ends of your rug. || For folded corners, the best thing to do is to fold the corners under and let them rest for several days. || Place the rug on a hard flat floor instead of a carpet while it relaxes. || Use a rug pad to secure the rug || Use a rug gripper for hardwood flooring || Vacuum the rug where the creases are located ||Use indoor double-sided carpet tape to tape down the rug to secure and flatten the ends of your rug (This will prevent bunching and buckling). You want to run the tape along the perimeter and put an X through the middle of the rug from corner to corner this will secure the rug. || These creases/waves/bumps/wrinkles/kinks will normally flatten out on their own so in most cases, you can simply allow ample time for your rug or runner to settle. Thank you for your question!

Q:I am looking at the 22' runner for a hallway in a small office. There are 4 of us in the office. Would this runner be durable enough for normal office use? This would not be at the front door where customers enter.

A:  Hi. Yes, this rug is fairly durable. We would recommend placing a rug pad underneath to help prevent sliding and to help maintain the longevity of the rug. Thank you for your inquiry.

Q:I have good ol', standard everyday short pile carpeting in my apartment. Is the latex backing stiff enough to allow my desk chair with wheels to roll freely on this runner? (Not necessarily easily--but I don't want it to get "stuck" and have to thrust my body in order to move the chair under and then out from my desk.)

              Answer This Question

A:  Hello. The latex backing is more of the weft underneath the rug that keeps the rug together. The backing is much like the pile where it is the bottom of the sisal loom. It might cause an issue with rolling a desk chair on top. Thank you for choosing The Home Depot.

A:  Hello. Creases usually take about 1-2 weeks to lay flat. We also recommend to back-roll/reverse roll the rug and allow time for the creases to relax. Thank you for your inquiry.
