Some plastics made of polyethylene are manufactured in such a way that may hinder maximum paint adhesion. However, Rust-Oleum Universal Clear Topcoat Spray is compatible with it and can be used for added protection and durability. Sandblasting typically would remove any paint or rust from the bed frame, if it created a very smooth surface, scuff sanding prior to applying Rust-Oleum Universal Advanced Formula Spray Paint would be the only recommendation.
