Answer This Question
A: David, our Restore 2X One Coat Solid Stain may be applied to exterior horizontal and vertical wood surfaces. This coating has hydrophobic technology built into it to repel water, so we do not recommend painting over it once it has dried. If you are looking for a thick primer to repair old house trim prior to painting, we recommend our Zinsser Peel Stop Triple Thick White Binding Primer: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Zinsser-1-gal-Peel-Stop-Triple-Thick-White-Binding-Primer-260924/203317264

A: Happy to help, Carrie! Rust-Oleum Restore 2X Deck Stain with NeverWet is recommended for use over bare, weathered wood. If wanting to apply over a previously stained or coated surface that is in good sound condition, and you don't want to remove the stain, we recommend starting with Rust-Oleum Restore Deck Start Primer!
