Q:Is it ok to spray a cast iron bath tub?
by|Aug 12, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Thank you for reaching out, John. While Rust-Oleum Professional High Performance Enamel can be applied to indoor metal surfaces, we do not recommend applying to a bath tub. The water immersion will cause the paint to blister and peel. Instead, we would recommend using Rust-Oleum Specialty Tub & Tile, for it superior adhesion to high moisture surfaces.

Q:Can this be used to paint stainless steel?
by|Jul 24, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Great question! Rust-Oleum Professional High-Performance Enamel Spray may be applied to stainless steel surfaces. The surface should be clean, and lightly scuff-sanded with 220 grit sandpaper to ensure a proper bond for the coating. For the best adhesion, our Rust-Oleum Professional High-Performance Flat Gray Primer may be used to prime the surface prior to painting: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-Professional-15-oz-Flat-Gray-Primer-Spray-7582838/100670373

Rust-Oleum Professional High Performance Protective Enamel Spray Paint is an alkyd paint, Rust-Oleum Specialty Appliance Epoxy Spray Paint is an epoxy ester paint, these are completely different paint formulates. Both can be applied to metal surfaces that do not exceed 200°F, such as the side of a stove, neither can be applied to stovetops.

Q:Used this on a motorcycle fender on top of primer. Do I need to wait 48 hours to sand before a clear coat?
by|Jun 3, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Happy to help, John. Rust-Oleum Professional High Performance Spray Paint can be recoated or clear coated in under 1 hour or after 48 hours. Do not sand before recoating or clear coating. Sanding will break the paint film, this may result in the solvent in the new coat dissolving the film, causing it to wrinkle.
