A:  Yes, but it depends on your house, climate and air conditioning or heating. I first tried a filter that filtered more particles than the FPR4 and had a "short cycling" problem. This is when your furnace turns on/off frequently. The more dense filter reduced the air flow across the heating coils enough that the upper temperature limit switch would trip because it was running too hot in the heat exchanger. There wasn't enough air flow across the heating coils to cool the furnace down. Changed to the FPR4 and the problem went away. You really need to examine the filter for dust particles.

        A:  Not sure what deal price you saw, but they do have a deal on a 12pk for just $36.97! Compared to what everybody else is charging, that's a great deal.

              A:  16 x 20 x 1, HOME DEPOT HAS AN ECONOMY SIZE (RHEEM) FILTERS THAT CONTAIN 3 FILTERS, FOR EXAMPLE GET TWO 3 PACKS. THAT QUANTITY WILL ALLOW A CHANGE IN FILTERS ( 2 FILTERS) EVERY 3 MONTHS ENOUGH FOR ONE YEAR.
