A: The Digging Shovel I bought to clean old bushes in the garden.
It's a little big and heavy, however it was a useful tool for me. I'm 5'1.

A: Check out a similar length at the store if you can. It's 45 inches long and weighs about 5 lbs. Looks like a good quality shovel. If you order it for delivery and it doesn't work well, you can return it at any Home Depot store.

Q:I see it has a lifetime warranty. Is that honored in store?

A: No, and also is not honored by the company. Their verbiage on the website makes it pretty clear that they think if anything is wrong, itis YOUR fault. And if you reach out to them, they want your receipt, despite being lifetime warranty. scam.

A: Hi.
Please see response to other question poster by Matt in Matt August 21, 2018.
I would go and contact Ames directly after 3 years.
by|Sep 7, 2020
A: Hi Cj,
It is manufacturers warranty and you will have to reach out directly to Ames (after 180 days that Home Depot covers you with).
IMHO. "Lifetime warranty" claims - similar to claiming "perpetuum mobile". What it normally means that product under normal use will last... longer than you.
Thanks to community (a few hundred of positive reviews!) you can trust that product is of HIGH quality and very convenient to use.
Hope all above helps!

A: Do whatever you can and keep the receipt because these people will do anything to get out of warranty claim. Despite being life time warranty, they ask for receipt from a few years back. Nice sneaky tactic.

A: Is that a serious question? 90 store return, warranty from manufacturer for LIFE, until you die.

A: Hi BC.
Thank you for your question.
The Manufacturer of the Razor-Back Shovel is Ames. The manufacturer offers a lifetime warranty against manufacturer defects.
Please feel free to contact your local Home Depot for additional information.
Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

A: Don't know warranty? However, I've had the shovel several years and put it through some heavy use in some rocky soils, and it's held up very well! Still in great shape! Would recommend!

Q:My shovel is 2 years old, the steel cracked just below the handle.. I can't use it for fear it will snap. Do I bring it to Home Depot for a warranty replacement?

A: I had a similar problem with mine. Customer Service, via on-line chat, said to return it to the store but when I did that the store would not provide warranty service and referred me to the manufacturer. This is unacceptable in my opinion, and renders the lifetime warranty worthless to me.

A: While I have been using my shovel for about 6 years with no problem, manufacturing defects can always happen. Also, I am not aware of the manufacture's warranty. Given that, please read the warranty and see "who" is standing behind the shovel at the 2 year point. My guess would be the manufacture, though Home Depot may be able to help you identifying who and how to go about obtaining a replacement.

A: Mine cracked as well. And since I didn't keep the receipt, they have zero interest in making it right for this cheaply made Chinese junk. Ames is not a reputable companY IMHO, they do whatever it takes to not honor warranty.

A: This is ridiculous I don't need other people that bought the shovel putting their comments in here. I want Home Depot to answer this thing. What a ridiculous waste of time. I'll just go to Home Depot and take the shovel to the customer service desk

A: I would strongly recommend that Home Depot not ask their customers to reply to questions about warranties
As a customer when I ask a question I would expect Home Depot could answer on their own rather than count on customers to do their work
