Only the RIDGID® vacuums with an intake or suction port located on the drum can accommodate filter bags. However, we have 4 other cartridge filters that you can use aside from the standard filter (VF4000). These filters offer excellent performance and ensure optimal functionality of your vacuum. A:  Hello RIDGID Customer, Thanks for writing a review. To install the filter bag (VF3502), we recommend that you follow the instructions below. 1. Push the cardboard cap into the bag before trying to install onto the inlet. This will punch a hole in the paper and make inserting the bag over the inlet easier. 2. If necessary, insert the rubber gasket over one side of the split inlet and then the other. This will make getting the inlet into the bag a little easier. 3. Push the cardboard collar all the way forward against the drum, making sure the rubber gasket moves over the single rib that is present on the inlet port.
