Questions and Answers for Quikrete 1 Qt. Acrylic Fortifier

A:  QUIKRETE® Concrete Acrylic Fortifier is mixed into QUIKRETE® concretes and mortars to provide increased bond strength and curing properties and to reduced shrinkage cracking. It is not used as a slurry.

A:  QUIKRETE® Concrete Acrylic Fortifier can be used with all non-polymer modified concrete products.

A:  QUIKRETE® Concrete Acrylic Fortifier, when dosed and mixed properly will not impact the strength development of the repair material being used.

A:  Use the recommended amount of Concrete Acrylic Fortifier along with sufficient water to provide proper consistency. For QUIKRETE Sand Mix, or Finish Coat Stucco, use 0.5 gal (1.9L) of Concrete Acrylic Fortifier per 80 lb (36.3 kg) bag or 3 pints (1.4 L) per 60 lb (27.2 kg) bag. For QUIKRETE Quick-Setting Cement and QUIKWALL Surface Bonding Cement, add 0.5 gal (1.9 L) of Concrete Acrylic Fortifier per 50 lb (22.7 kg) bag. For QUIKRETE Heavy Duty Masonry Coating, use 0.5 gal (1.9 L) of Concrete Acrylic Fortifier per 40 lb (18.2 kg) bag.

A:  QUIKRETE® Concrete Acrylic Fortifier is a formulated acrylic modifier. The actual mix design is proprietary information. For further assistance, please contact our Customer Service Representatives at 800-282-5828.

A:  QUIKRETE Concrete Acrylic Fortifier can be used on pool finishes which do not contain integral polymers. Please consult the pool finish manufacturer to determine whether this product is suitable.

A:  QUIKRETE Concrete Acrylic Fortifier should only be used at the recommended dosage. Overloading the additive can cause a massive increase in the air content, compromising the strength of Quick Setting Cement.

A:  QUIKRETE® Concrete Acrylic Fortifier should only be added at the appropriate dosage to unmodified QUIKRETE® cement-based products. We are unable to predict the consequences of using this product on a concrete or mortar modified by others’ admixtures.

A:  Difficult to answer without knowing what you are attempting to accomplish. Rapid Set Flow Control is for use with CTS cements, not portland cements that the fortifier is designed for. CTS cements so not need any fortifying, they are plenty strong as they are. If your goal is to use the fortifier as a primer to help a thin toping of a CTS cement product to regular concrete, that would probably be helpful, but I think you would be better off contacting the manufacturers of the products you are using, and ask them, instead of asking we mere mortal Home Depot customers.

A:  QUIKRETE® Concrete Acrylic Fortifier can be used to modify mortars for use in bird bath repair. The Acrylic Fortifier is an all acrylic material, so it is non-toxic.

A:  Concrete is toxic by itself already

A:  QUIKRETE® Concrete Acrylic Fortifier can be added to any non-polymer-modified repair material. For your application, we recommend QUIKRETE® Quick-Setting Cement, which can be sculpted to match the contours of the existing pool.
