        Answer This Question

A:  I would recommend getting the 200 solid one instead of connecting the 2 100. The part number for the 200 unit is QSVRG200. You shouldn't get interference though as long as you have enough power running to the camera.

A:  Hi Larry, I would need to know what kind of camera you are running with this cable. We do have a camera power connection you can find at Home Depot that will work with this cable. Q:My home is of older construction and does not include any duct work for HVAC within the ceilings or the walls. I elected to use only QSVRG60 and QSVRG100 cables between the individual cameras and the QS1018/DVR units. My heating system is hot water baseboard and I only use window air conditioners. There is drop or false ceilings in the structure as again, my home is old construction. I intend to utilize 12 cameras and intend to power all of the cameras using the QS1018. I am in the process of adding vinyl siding to my home and felt that now was a perfect opportunity to upgrade my old (and cheap) 4 camera system and better install the wiring for the units. I currently have a substandard camera system in comparison and had stretched the camera wires (temporarily) very visibly through 2 rooms and a hallway before they were routed through window openings to the camera’s exterior location. The individual 60 foot cable lengths (QSVRG60) that I purchased separately appears to adequately provide for 6 of my cameras. 4 of these cables will travel a short distance before they pass through an exterior wall. They will then be routed about 15 feet (sandwiched) between the existing structure and soon to be installed thin insulation panels and vinyl siding. They will then be stretched to their cameras intended mounting point. The next 2 of the 60 foot cables that I purchased separately will travel a short distance before being passed through a hallway wall. I am then concerned of appearances of the bulky wires AND a possible trip hazard so I am considering passing about 12 foot of each cable underneath a floor board, possibly only about 10 feet in length (this area is a hallway and an old closet). Again there is no duct work for HVAC but there may be piping for the baseboard heat in the area. The cables will then be passed through an exterior wall and the cables then stretched to their respective camera a short distance away. I then planned on running the 6 of the100 foot cables (QRSVR100) that I purchased separately a short distance before being passed through a hallway wall. Here again, I am concerned of appearances of the bulky wires AND a possible trip hazard so I am considering passing about 12 foot of each cable underneath the floor board, possibly only about 10 feet in length, much like I planned to do with the above 60 feet cables (8 cables total would pass through this area). Again there is no duct work for HVAC but there may be piping for the baseboard heat in the area. The 6 longer cables will then be passed through an exterior wall and will be routed (sandwiched) 20 feet between the existing structure and soon to be installed thin insulation panels and vinyl siding. I then intend on running these 6 cables underground a distance of about 30 feet in length to a detached garage with the remaining cameras will be mounted at various points on the structure. Based on what I can find and read on line about the subject matter, it appears to me that this method may be sufficient to complete the installation of the system. I am hoping my interpretation is correct. My order is in transit so I have not had an opportunity to physically look it over as well as anything included with it. I was trying to prepare my home for the installation when I learned about possible issues with the unit provided 60 foot cables. I guess I was too focused on the easy installation comments that I read. Had I realized it I may have not ordered the unit so quickly. I am at a point that I had to act if I intended to make the installation and hide the wires before installation of my vinyl siding. Unfortunately the more I read the more uncertainty I have. Something I thought would be simply and probably is, all of a sudden appears difficult. So I am seeking an expert opinion on the product from someone with knowledge. I believe the only possible issue would be the proposed short distance run of 8 cables beneath a floor and if so, would my only other option be to sleeve the wires in a pipe or other enclosure along the hallway walls? I apologize for the barrage of questions about this matter. Seems like some of this is over my head and has become confusing to me. Thank you.

              Answer This Question

A:  Hi With what you are trying to, I would advise a bit of caution since you want to run the cables near piping of water or heat, I would advise to review your local building codes. There may be some restrictions in your city. To find this information please check your city’s website under Building codes or ask your contractor. The Cable you purchased is rated as a class II and can be run through walls.(QSVRG60/QSVRG100 or QSVRG200) If you need further assistance please follow the links below. https://qsee.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/10/kw/what%20cables%20should%20I%20use%20to%20run%20through%20walls https://qsee.custhelp.com/ci/fattach/get/132/1308852583/redirect/1/filename/Q-See_Cables_Selection_Chart.pdf https://qsee.custhelp.com/ci/fattach/get/34756/1327601546/redirect/1/filename/Camera%20Placement%20and%20Location.pdf https://qsee.custhelp.com Thanks.
