Proposition 65, also known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, was enacted by California to address public concern about exposure to toxic chemicals. Under the Act, the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (“OEHHA”) publishes a list of chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer or other reproductive harm. Proposition 65 requires that manufacturers and retailers notify Californians of the presence of those listed chemicals in the products they sell in California. OEHHA’s list, numbering almost 1000 substances, contains a wide range of naturally occurring and synthetic chemicals including additives or ingredients used in common household products, food, drugs, dyes, or solvents and chemicals that may also be used in manufacturing and construction, as well as byproducts of chemical processes such as motor vehicle exhaust. Manufacturers, like Hubbell Lighting, are required to provide a clear and reasonable warning of the presence of these chemicals in their products that are sold in California. In order to assure compliance with Proposition 65, Hubbell Lighting has implemented an initiative to mark all Hubbell Lighting products with an appropriate warning label. Electrical products can contain trace amounts of lead or other metals, which are included on the Prop 65 list of substances. Rather than attempting to segregate products destined only for California, many manufacturers such as Hubbell Lighting have chosen to apply the State of California’s required label on all products. In summary, the addition of this labeling has been implemented to comply with California Proposition 65 and is not due to any Hubbell Lighting change in the materials or manufacturing methods by which our products are produced. A:  The previous answer is correct. However, it did not answer Anna's question! The maximum wattage for each bulb for this fixture is 60 watts. Common sense says; that a lesser wattage (40 watts) would not pose any type of issue.

A:  Yes provided the base od the bulb is the regular size

A:  Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot. The spec sheet list a 60W on this fixture. Or, you can install CFL/LED lamps as long as the equivalent rating does not exceed the original maximum wattage. For example, if a 13-watt CFL equals a 60-watt incandescent lamp, that 13-watt lamp can be used in a fixture that has a MAX rating of >=60 watts. But please pay careful attention to the bulb manufacturer’s warning/caution statements on the packaging or printed on the lamp. For example, many CFL’s will indicate on the packaging that they cannot be used in an enclosed fixture or used with a dimmer. Thanks!

A:  It would appear that it could. There does not seems to be any parts which are orientation sensitive (i.e. glass shade).

A:  Hi VW, This light is designed to be wall mounted. However you can mount it on a ceiling. The only issue would be changing the bulbs. It cannot be mounted above a bathtub or in a shower. Mike, The Home Depot Answer Man
