A:  This is steel with chrome finish very solid piece. But beware the round bolts that hold it together against the fixture has already corroded in less than a year. Other light fixture same brand does not have this issue

A:  No. It has to be mounted on the wall, not the ceiling. The lights cannot rotate relative to the base. You can mount it on the wall with the glass shades pointing down, or you can flip the whole thing upside down and mount it on the wall with the shades pointing up.

A:  Yes, we actually did hang it facing down.

A:  I used LED lights but not a dimmer.
