A:  Thank you for your inquiry regarding this item from Prime-Line Products. The panel will need to be pulled down to retract the bolt and will remain retracked until lifted up to close.

It generally is installed to the top of the frame. The instructions show this and can be viewed on the website under the drop-down arrow the Product Details / Additional Resources / Assembly Instructions.

            A:  I do not remember what size, I have since thrown the installation instructions away. But if you check the instructions it will inform you of the size screws. If they are not in the instructions, check the web site of the company.

It installs at the top edge of the door.                 A:  This is a lock for patio doors. It locks the door that slides open not both doors. It mounts to the top area of the door with the plunger going into the channel of the frame. It can be mounted either on the front or side of the door. When drilling the holes to mount you must watch out so you don't crack the glass.

                  A:  Yes, with the metal framework embedded within the vinyl extrusions, the lock should mount securely to the back edge of the door.
