Q:The hog rings are too wide and don't fit in the grooves on the pliers. I bought these to install field fencing and I am wondering if they are the wrong product for this type of fence.

          Answer This Question

A:  Unfortunately we do not have a video for this item at the current time, but thank you for your recent inquiry regarding this item from Prime-Line Products. I am unaware if these pliers are manufactured in different sizes or with larger grooves, but these are manufactured according to industry standard. It may be possible you’ve purchased a defective set of pliers… the grooves in my set measure about 3/16 inches in width, by 3/4 inches in length, by 1/8 in. deep. The largest hog ring we carry (item no. HR-14003) measures 3/32 inches in diameter, by 1-1/2 in. wide, with a 7/8 in. opening between pointed ends, and the pliers grab and close these rings just fine. If you purchased both the HR-14000 and either of the HR-14001, 14002, or 14003 they should work fine also… if not you may have a set of pliers with defective grooves or hog ring thicker in diameter than what these pliers were designed for.
