    Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your inquiry regarding this item from Prime-Line Products. 1. Check the back side of channel for stamped numbers (i.e.; 1410, 28A, 3620, etc.). The first two digits indicate the actual glass height. The balance is 1" LONGER than the part number indicates (i.e.; #1410 is 15" long). The second two digits or letter designation (A, B, C, D) denote the weight series of the balance (i.e.; #1410 or 14A is for light weight sash, 1420 or 14B is medium, 1430 or 14C is medium to heavy and 1440 or 14D is heavy. The balance number, by itself, does not include top or bottom guides. You will have to select the various shape and sizes of your original guide pieces. The guides are held in place by rivets that come with the guide kit. A rivet set tool (H 3740) can be used to install those rivets.

          Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your inquiry regarding this item from Prime-Line Products. A lock shoe is sold separately. You would need to compare the dimensions of what is in the window frame. This type of "U" shaped channel balance does not use a pivot lock shoe. A spiral balance does.

A:  Thank you for your recent inquiry regarding this item from Prime-Line Products. It is best to weigh the window you have to help in determining the balance needed. You can tell what size of balance you need by the size of your window. The height of your glass is usually the length of the metal channel of the balance itself, not including the plastic head and end caps. The best way to determine what size of balance you need if you do not already have an old part, is to call up the manufacturer, give them the overall size of the complete window, and they can tell you what size you need.
