Q:What is the difference between this design and the Monterey one, both look similar with a bit of difference with the shelves. What else? Thank you.

A: I have a very narrow room and only one wall where the bed can be placed, so I needed an 8 inch depth. All of the ones I looked at were 11 inches. It actually fits better than I had hoped. I guess some would call it plain, but I like the clean, elegant design. If you want more "fru-fru", you can always add trim or a fancy bed set.

A: The tops are the main difference. The Monterey has a beveled edge (traditional style). The Calla has a modern, square shape. As you noted, the Monterey has one adjustable shelf.
