Answer This Question
A: The opening of the Madison post sleeve is only large enough to slide over a 4x4 (3.5" x 3.5"). You would have to bury the entire steel drive-in post holder, so only wood is above ground, to make it work. Also, Keep in mind you need to have 18" of wood above ground.

A: I am afraid super glue will not be strong enough to hold. You can buy just the post sleeve from the manufacturer. Call 877-544-5220

Answer This Question
A: Actually, it mounts over a pressure treated "3 1/2" x 3 1/2" wood post that is 40" in length (sold separately). 20 inches of the wood post will be buried in the ground leaving 20 inches of the post exposed above ground. The Madison Mailbox and Post Kit will slide over the wood post and is then secured using hardware included.

A: The metal rod is the part that is in the ground. The rod sticks into the wood and the base of the mailbox pole slips over the wood and secured with screws. No digging. Quick and simple but very sturdy. I've had mine up for 4 years now and it still looks good as new.

Q:Is this freestanding? I understand to withstand elements it would need the an anchoring post, but if used inside as a decoration, could this stand on it's own?

Answer This Question
A: It would require some type of base to be mounted over in order to stand on its own. An "indoor" base could easily be constructed using a 2 ft x 2 ft piece of board attached to the bottom of a "4x4" wood post 26" or so in length (actual dimensions of "4x4" posts are 3 1/2"' x 3 1/2").
by|Nov 23, 2020
A: It will not stand on its own. You would have to lean it or tie it to something for support.
