Q:For a masonry opening of 28 wide x 41 1/4 tall, how many blocks and what size window would be ordered, and where would the vent lie
          by|Jun 18, 2015
          1 Answer
          Answer This Question

A:  The actual size of a 28x42" GuardWise Window is 27" wide by 40-1/2" high. 6x6, 6x8 and 8x8" blocks are used to construct this window. There will be 6 courses of glass blocks 4 blocks wide and the vent will be in the second course from the top. Standard installation of this window is to apply mortar to the sill, insert the glass block panel into the opening. Make sure it is plumb and level. Apply a full bed of mortar at the jambs and then insert expansion material at the head and caulk that joint.

                    Answer This Question

A:  We list the width of our windows first and then the height. If your opening is 22-3/4" wide and 34-3/4" high, the closest size window available to fit that opening would be a 22" wide by 34" high. Actual size of this window is 21-1/4" x 33-3/4." The next size larger would be a 24x36 and the actual size would be 23-1/4" x 34-3/4." The 22x34" windows is made with three differenct size blocks and would be three colums wide and five courses high. The vent would be in the second course from the top. Any other configuration would need to be specified at time of order.
