Q:Are these for exterior deck use? Will they stain or rust?

Answer This Question
A: These are 1/2-thread FRAMING screws. Use to build the deck frame. Deck screws have 3/4 of the screw with thread or a 1/4 upper reversed thread to lock down a deck board. These WILL squeak if used on deck boards! Ceramic coating lasts years.

Answer This Question
A: The screws and bit are made of extremely soft material. Good luck if you're using them on hardwood. They shred.

A: Yes, these screws are hardened. You are more apt to break the enclosed driver bit than the screw. In fact, I don't recall ever breaking one of these screws.
