Q:Also concerned about steam being a problem for the bulb. There’s not a lot of steam in the shower but even a little steam worries me if the bulb is fragile.

          Answer This Question

A:  The bulb will generate heat but is blinding to the eye, the recommended red infrared bulbs are better and a softer look compared to the brightness of the bulb you want to use.

          by|Jun 1, 2020

A:  This is a heat lamp, just not the red one that’s more common. If you’re using it in an existing fixture rated for a heat lamp than yes, not in a fixture used as a high hat.

A:  Yes, you can use this in the bathroom but please take care that the fixture you intend to install this bulb in is rated to accept bulbs that use 175 watts.

A:  A standard recessed fixture will not handle the wattage. You will need a high temperature fixture.

Q:Is 175W the only size, nothing available in less wattage? i'm looking to replace the bulb in my bathroom - many homes have heat lights in bathrooms, so the actual fixture itself would need to be rated for 175W?

                  Answer This Question

A:  We offer PAR38 lamps in multiple wattages and technologies. We have 90W and 120W equivalent LEDs that have an actual energy use of less than 15W, for example. You are correct in that you will need to follow the fixture's guidelines in order to not exceed the maximum allowable wattage.

Q:can this be used in a shop light outside? I have a pipe that comes out of my house from my sump pump to an under ground pipe to the street. It is freezing to to extreme cold here in the northeast. I am trying to find a way to keep this pipe thawed and avoiding a flood in my basement.

                    Answer This Question

A:  It can work if the shop light's socket is rated for the wattage of this bulb. If it isn't, it creates a fire hazard and it can cause the bulb to burn out quickly.

A:  Had the same problem. Recessed fixtures don’t seem to go that high. I think this blub is made more for commercial use to keep food warm in restaurants. You might be able to use it in the 160 fixture but the blub gets really hot , didn’t want to take that chance.
