    Answer This Question

A:  As long as it has a pipe to go over, I don’t see a problem. Held on even during hurricane Irma. Great item!

    by|May 6, 2023

A:  I would assume so since you need to put a bead of caulk around it.

      by|Sep 8, 2020

A:  Yes I will work you may need to trim bas to contour of tile

        by|May 6, 2023

A:  Yes It will work. You really don't need to stick this thing to floor. If you can then it's good otherwise it's not going to fly away. It's tight to the pipe.

A:  My advice is to contact David@perma-boot.com. I wrote to him initially because I have a metal roof, and I was worried about snow and ice dams here in Maine, and he reassured me they would work fine. I now have three up there, and I will see how things go this winter.

A:  Pipe Boot Repair for 1.5 in still going to work for 1-1/4 in.

                by|May 5, 2023

A:  We do not have a product for an 1-1/4" pipe. Standard plumbing vent stacks are 1.5", 2", 3" and some 4"

A:  It will probably be two loose. You may have to caulk the top down to hold it all together.

A:  Looking at the Perma-Boot and Home Depot web site the smallest they offer is 1 1/2. Now if you want to get creative you could purchase from Home Depot; 1 1/2 Perma-Boot, 1-1/4 x 1 1/2 reducer bushing, and some 1 1/2 pvc pipe. Sip the bushing on the 1 1/4 pipe. Place the Perma-Boot over this. Measure and cut the 1 1/4 so the Perma-Boot fits over the old boot and sets down on the roof. Now measure and cut the 1 1/2 pvc to fit. The Perma-Boot cap should click and lock in place on the 1 1/2 pipe if everything was done correctly. I don't think gluing is needed just push fittings tight. If glued it might lead to problems later when re-roofing. I probably didn't explain it very well but it is similar to what I had to do using 1 1/2 unions and pipe for my vent stacks that were too short for the Perma-Boot to work as intended.

Q:What keeps a high wind from blowing Perma-boot off the roof?

A:  Very little openings for wind to get under to lift off plus there are friction tabs to hold it on tight. If you are in a high wind area add a little caulk any type to junction of Perma Boot and vent stack then install cap

A:  We live in a high wind area. The boot should fit snug and the recommendation is to apply some bead adhesive to the top of the pipe and where the boots mate together. We followed their directions and we have had no issues despite constant high winds.

A:  There are friction tabs built into product to prevent Perma Boot from lifting. Also there is very little space for air to get in and lift it anyway. We do recommend in high wind areas to put caulk where the Perma Boot meets vent pipe and then install cap

A:  We just had close to 90 mile/hr wind. My shingles are gone but permaboot didn't fly off.

A:  Fit right over my broken and cracked pipe vents. It is a great product if you don't want to replace the whole pipe vent. I highly recommend 1st measure the diameter of your pipe vents before you order, so you can get the proper size.

A:  my shortest height was 10 " (peakside) was probably the shortest deck to shaft distance ,and worked suitably . Perhaps a small pvc extension may provide adequate height range , use quality polyurethane roofing seal like loctite .

A:  This should mean you have a 1.5" inside diameter PVC pipe (PVC pipes are measured by inside diameter). So you will need the 1.5" Perma Boot.
