A:  It is not true. I have been using it for almost a year now and use feeder for red cardinals. My feeder is always busy with red cardinals mostly and some blue colored birds and small birds. I love it. I think it is what you offer to the birds which matters.

A:  I found that this feeder is best when it is under a tree.  I am not sure if the sun heats the seed up too much. My present house has no trees in the back yard.  I had to move it to the front and I got lots of birds

A:  You can adjust it to handle various weights to a certain degree

              by|May 26, 2022

A:  The weight activated perch can be adjusted for lighter or heavier squirrels. We have not specifically tested it for larger birds such as black birds. The sensitivity may need to be adjusted to see if it will close for larger birds.

A:  This would be dependent upon the size/weight of the local squirrels in your area.

A:  Yes this feeder can be mounted to a 4" x 4" wooden post. The feeder can also be mounted directly to a 3/4" pole without the included adapter.

A:  Yes, it comes with a very sturdy handle that attaches to both sides and goes above the feeder. Even though mine sits on a post, I use the handle to bring it in the house to clean and refill.

A:  We apologize for any confusion! This feeder holds approximately 8lbs of seed and will weigh approximately 12lbs when filled to capacity. We have made our Product Managers aware of this confusion!

A:  This time of year depending on your location it could take awhile to get use to it. Put some seed not a lot on the ground by it see if that helps

A:  I have it hanging on a pole on our deck so I spread seeds on the railing and on a table. They easily see those then they will land on the feeder and start eating from the perch.

A:  Birds are creatures of habit and can take some time to adjust to a new feeder. To aid in this transition, we recommend temporarily taking down any other established feeders. Placing a shiny pie pan with a handful of seed on the ground under the feeder may also help attract them to the feeder.
