    Answer This Question

A:  Hi BJWalk. Thank you for your question. According to PROVEN WINNERS planting instructions, the 4.5 in. Qt. Lo and behold 'Blue Chip Jr.' Butterfly Bush (Buddleia) should be planted 1 ½ times as deep as the pot is tall and 2 x’s as wide as the pot is. Remove the plant from the pot. Add garden soil to the hole to bring the soil in the pot even with the surrounding ground. Tamp the soil gently. Water to help settle soil further. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. Rick_HD_OC

A:  I'm sorry I can't answer the question due to the plant dying as soon as I took out into the sun. I had kept it inside due to weather conditions that got slowly worse. We actually had a freeze in Austin, Texas with snow lasting for over a week. So once weather was nice, waited two weeks after weather stayed warm and took the plant out for some sun and it immediately dried out. I'm so dissapointed and the website won't let me update my first comment.

A:  I have not had this one long but I bought 2 exact same butterfly bushes last year. They are growing bigger than I thought but if you have a small space I would keep it trimmed so it does Overwhelm the space.

A:  I wouldn't think it would be too late to plant. We just planted ours up here in Indiana last week .Keep it well watered, shouldn't be a problem in Georgia, but we are in a major drought here in Central Indiana.

A:  Hi Falcons, Thank you for asking. Fall is a great time to plant shrubs because of the cool temperatures, reliable rainfall, and short, bright days which help plants make a quick and easy transition to your landscape. You can plant up to 6 weeks before your ground freezes. Check out the USDA zone map for approximate dates for your hardiness zone first frost date. If you have any further questions, please contact us here helpdesk@provenwinnersdirect.com or (734)654-7485. Kind Regards, Shae

A:  Hello 19cLinda, Thank you for reaching out to us. Our Blue Chip Jr will be hardy in zones 5-9. When planting in a container permanently, you will need to be located two zones above the lowest zone year-round. Otherwise your plant will have to be properly overwintered or planted in a landscape in the fall. I hope this helps! A:  Hello Mjm, Thank you for reaching out to us. We recommend pruning in the spring after the new growth emerges. Many people cut their butterfly bush back in autumn, as part of their fall clean up. But particularly in cold climates, this can leave your butterfly bush more susceptible to damage over winter. I hope this helps! If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to us at 734-654-7485 or helpdesk@provenwinnersdirect.com. Best Regards, Tabatha

A:  Hello Ame, Thank you for reaching out to us. We mainly use bio controls to combat against pests on our plants. We do not use any Neonicotinoids, however we do use pesticides occasionally to ensure you receive a healthy plant with not bad bugs on it. The pesticides we do use are Neonicotinoid free and will not cause harm to any pollinators or humans that touch it. We time the usage of pesticides to ensure that it is not in your plants system at the point of ship. We only use pesticides that have less than a 24-hour active period. All chemicals dissipate long before it is put in a box and shipped to you. I hope this helps! If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to us at 734-654-7485 or helpdesk@provenwinnersdirect.com. Best Regards, Tabatha

PROVEN WINNERS Blue Chip, Jr. is an amazing small shrub. The blooms are so fragrant that I put the plants in the front of my garden. I did a quick fall trim with a small hedgetrimmer and it is getting ready to bloom now..gorgeous. So unlike the tall wilder woody ones!
