A:  Hi Amanda. First of all, I should state that I am not a plumber. You might want to ask a plumber about this. I do believe the answer to your question is: Yes, if both the ABS and PVC are 1-1/2" pipe. This coupling can be used to connect 1-1/2" cast iron, plastic, or steel to 1-1/2" cast iron, plastic, or steel. Since ABS and PVC are both plastic, this should work.

A:  I believe that this will work for you. The code on the label says that it will connect 1-1/2" CI (Cast Iron), PL (Plastic, i.e. PVC), or ST (Steel) to 1-1/2" Copper or 1-1/4" PL (Plastic, i.e. PVC). There is a maximum pressure rating, but this should not be a problem for drain pipe.

A:  No. To connect 1-1/2" Schedule 40 PVC to 1-1/2" copper, you need P3001-150, Home Depot Store SKU 482173, UPC 018578002678, or its equivalent. The Home Depot website does not adequately describe the correct use(s) for each "Fernco-type" connector.

A:  No. This coupling is designed to fit 1-1/2" Cast Iron, Sch 40 PVC or Steel piping on either side. It will not torque down onto copper piping.

A:  This item is a no-hit. For use connecting ABS waste lines to existing galvanized nipples. The smallest ID is 1 1/2".
