A: I took it to mean White Oak. This helped me because I didn’t want the red overtones that come with red oak, douglas fir etc. great moulding and versatile.

Q:Is this molding?s actual width 6? or 5-1/2 inches only? I also got a 6? wide plinth. Would the plinth?s actual size be 6? or 5-1/2 inches only? Will it fit a wall 5-1/2 inches wide only?

Answer This Question
A: Hello Chary! Thank you so much for your question. The actual width of this casing is 6-in. The plinth block should always be at least 2 to 3 inches taller than the baseboard, it must be thicker than both the casing and the base and should be 1/4 inch wider than the casing. A plinth block that would work great with this casing would be BG940PBWHW

Q:Can this be used to replace old exterior front door casing? If primed and painted with exterior paint

A: If this is treaded very well with a weather seal, it is possible it could be used outside; however, it would not be recommended as this type of wood (Aspen) will turn black quickly if left untreated in the weather.

A: I used it in an interior application, but I see no reason, if primed and adequately painted, that it could not be used as exterior door casing.

A: Absolutely!....as long as you use a good exterior primer, and most importantly be sure and prime the cut ends before installing.
