A:  Hello, thank you for your question. Your yard seems like an ideal location for the Clematis to thrive. Fall is a terrific time to plant the 'Sweet Autumn. The plant will still have plenty of time to become established in its new home before winter sets in.

A:  Hi Connie. Thank you for your question. Sweet Autumn Clematis Plant is well suited for climate zones: 3,4,5,6,7 & 8. It looks like The Fort Worth area is in USDA climate zone 8, which should be just right for this clematis plant. The Sweet Autumn Clematis Plant is also a hummingbird and butterfly attracting plant that can be placed in a full sun environment. This plant has medium water requirements depending on the soil and temperature in your area. This will be a smaller plant with a mature height of about 4 inches but makes a great cascading plant that can be up to 30 feet long in the right conditions. This profuse flowering, fragrant vining plant will be great on a sturdy fence and will produce white blooms in late summer and fall. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. Rick_HD_OC

A:  it likes sun but its roots don't want to be overheated and should be shaded by, for example, a lower growing plant.

A:  Yes, but the root of the plant needs to be protected from the sun with something like violets (another small perennial) planted around the base of the plant. This Clematis will climb and get quite large and may require trimming back periodically once established. It will look great on a trellis but will climb on anything.

A:  Yes. It thrives in sun to part shade but you get better blooms with sun. . Trick is to keep the roots in the shade but the top in the sun or part sun.

A:  I do not know that could be answered by Home Depot themselves. However, that said unless you have no physical address you should not be afraid to order online and have it shipped to your home. Believe me I was quite hesitant about purchasing this plant without seeing it first. I have the experience of receiving many dead plants or plants that have died shortly after receiving them from various suppliers- non of which were Home Depot and all of those DOA plants were smaller than 2 Gal size. I love online shopping it keeps my time for me, not traffic, driving or waiting in lines and I enjoy getting packages I didn't carry delivered to my doorstep!
