Q:will this fan keep the room cool too?

    Answer This Question

A:  No, this product is a heat or exhaust fan.

    by|May 4, 2023

A:  This is a two function unit. It has a heater, and it has an exhaust fan. The exhaust fan is designed to remove moisture and odors from a room that is approximately 50 square feet. It may help to remove some of the hot air, but it is not designed as a cooling fan. Thank you.

        Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your interest in our products. While we offer a large number of fan and fan/lights units that are suitable for that type of installation, heaters cannot be installed inside the tub or shower enclosure. If you have additional questions concerning this item and your project, call our Technical Support Department at 888-336-6151. Thanks, again.

Q:I hope to replace an exhaust vent only with this unit. My question deals with the switch.

A:  Thank you for your installation question. The 9905 heat-a-vent unit will be fine with your current switch. You need to be more concerned about the circuit. Since this unit has a heater, you will need to have this on a 20 AMP dedicated circuit from a power source. This unit comes with a wall switch, and you have the option to change yours, but the bigger issue would be the circuit. If you have any questions call our Technical Support Department at 888-336-6151 before you do the installation. Thanks, again.

Q:can we order just the plastic light cover

              Answer This Question

A:  The 9905 is strictly a heather and vent. Since it does not incorporate a light, the lens cover is not a separate item. This is a complete grille. If you’d like to order this grille for your 9905 heat/vent, just dial 888-336-3948 and our Customer Service Department can assist you. Thanks, again.

Q:Best way to install in bathroom without a previous vent

                Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your installation question. All exhaust fans must be vented to the outside unless they are specifically a non-duct fan. The model shown with your question is an exhaust fan and heater combination. This unit MUST BE exhausted to the outside. The only non-duct unit we offer is model 682. This unit is best for a half-bath, and is designed to remove odors, not steam. It would be my suggestions to contact our Technical Support Department at 888-336-6151 and discuss your options before you purchase a fan. It may offer some additional insight that can be overlooked in a simple response from us. Thanks, again.

A:  You MUST vent this to the outside, especially if, as your screen name indicates, you are in a northern climate. I wold not necessarily call an HVAC contractor for this, but rather a good carpenter. Between floors, you will need to fish a flexible duct through the joist space and penetrate through the rim joist. Code requires that you put this on it's own circuit breaker, and frankly, it draws enough current that you really DO need that second circuit. Initially, in old construction, I installed mine on the same breaker as the bathroom convenience outlet. It worked fine in the summer, but in winter with the heater turned on, the breaker tripped the first time someone plugged in the hair dryer and curling iron. I ran a new circuit the very next weekend. Not sure, but I think code requires a 20 Amp circuit. This heater does a fine job of heating, and evacuating humidity from an otherwise unheated, 6x8 bathroom with a tile floor and wainscot finish, even when the outdoor temperature is well below zero (we live in the mountains of Colorado), but be aware that it is somewhat noisy.

A:  Hello jjwhite, I’m Newf from the Home Depot’s how-to Community. Thank you for your question. Yes, as long as you use a timer that is rated for 1500 watts or more, this can be done. Please see these products for more information: http://www.homedepot.com/buy/honeywell-econoswitch-7-day-programmable-solar-switch-for-lights-and-motors-283002.html http://www.homedepot.com/buy/electrical/home-automation-security/ge/7-day-indoor-in-wall-programmable-digital-timer-72357.html I hope this helps, Newf.

A:  Yes as far as I know it can - Friend is a electrician and says it can but I used a timmer switch on mine and works well for me.

A:  You can wire it to any wall switch capable of controlling 110 v and handling 15 amps. If you can find a programmable switch to do the job, you can certainly wire it to this fan.
