A: It really depends on the application and the specific installation. However I would suggest you start by opening the PDF of the “Use and Care Manual” that can be found under “Info and guides” on the Home Depot product listing page. The discussion of this topic begins on page 4. As a plumber I have installed many of these over the years. I usually start by hanging or mounting the unit. Integral into the top of the unit are nutserts. I will topically screw 3/8” threaded rod into these. The unit will hang from this rod. I then attach the rod to the appropriate type of pipe hanger for the surface I am attaching it to. This could be what is referred to as a Side beam hanger, or an A Band hanger or could even be a number of other types. In more recent years I have begun mounting unit strut to the ceiling and using unistrut hangers that will connect to the rod. As mentioned I mount the unit first then do my takeoffs for venting and gas fitting.
A: Suspended from overhead
A: 110
A: The unit that you are asking about is 115 Volt Single Phase. These units are available in other voltages special order through the Home Depot stores
A: Yes it can. You have to but the conversion kit
A: Modine does produce an LP conversion kit for this unit. It is sold separately. The Home Depot does offer it on there web site as Model # 28051 Internet #202812670. If you put that internet number in the search block on there site it will come up. Another option you have is to special order this though a Home Depot store as LP rather than doing a field conversion. If you have questions on how to do that feel free to give me a call. A: Forced air.
A: Put a ceiling fan in garage to aid circulation
A: These units have a fan on the back that creates flow over the heat exchanger. It has limited throw but it does move the appropriate amount of air to keep the heat differential correct and to create limited circulation and to make sure the unit puts out the amount of heat it is rated for. Modine does offer high velocity blowers versions of this series when duct work is being used. If you have further questions please feel free to call. Chris 978 651 3301
A: There is no direct information about the square footage of floor space and the number of BTU's needed.
A: There is no direct relationship between square footage of floor space and the number of BTU's needed. As you can imagine the geographic location, height, building materials and other factors greatly effect this. If you are looking to size a piece of heating equipment you want to start by doing a heat loss calculation. There are a number of free programs on line that will do this. Just search for heat loss program. These programs will allow you to put in basic factors about the structure and its location. From that it will calculate how much heat the structure loses on the coldest hour of they statistical coldest day of the year; in your area. Once you have the BTU figure you need to install you can look for a piece of equipment with that out put. If you have further questions please feel free to give me a call. Chris 978 651 3301
A: 24x30 9ft ceilings garage toasty
A: If you go to the Modine website and you can calculate cubic feet of the space you want to heat. It will tell you what btu you need
A: Yes Modine is a US company based in Racine WI. However I believe these units are made in the Carolina's Most of the sub assemblies are also US made but I believe the circuit boards may be imported.,
A: Yes
A: These units are certified by ETL. ETL is who I see most often as the testing agency of record for boilers and furnaces. I am familar with CSA but I see them more on plumbing ware than anything else. And on oil tanks it is usually UL
