Q:I have put the tool together in the correct way, but the shield is deeper than the blade. How do I make the tool cut anything?
    by|Jul 5, 2023
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  The black cylinder that clips onto the bottom of the shield has a spring in it.  Center the pilot bit on your mark and push the drill and bit gently up until the bit assembly starts to push away from the shield and engages the ceiling/whatever.  Push slowly to make then cut and allow the spring to retract the bit after you break through.  It makes sure that the shield is pressed up into the surface of the cut and seals it as much as possible without requiring you to use two hands on the drill.

        Q:Plaster walls?

        Answer This Question

A:  No, the tool may not be sharp enough for plaster. It’s really meant for dry wall only.

        by|Dec 30, 2022

A:  not good on old plaster walls or ceilings. If the plaster has the old wood laths under neath, the plaster will be too loose and unstable.

          by|Dec 28, 2022

A:  No Sir, better to use hole saw.

            by|Dec 30, 2022

A:  Nope folds up like a cheap paper clip   I was trying to cut a hole in a 1900s plaster wall. It went through the plaster. OK soon as I hit the lathe  that was it.

A:  Yikes. This tool will NOT cut through wood. It’s made for soft cutting materials like it suggested, Sheet rock and only sheet rock!

                by|Oct 11, 2022

A:  No, it will cut drywall and backer board well. I managed around 30 holes before any major issues. Great product for cutting a variety of sizes.

A:  No, this is for drywall only.

                    by|Oct 9, 2022

A:  The blades are thin. Designed to cut the paper and coarse meat of sheetrock. Could you force it to cut wood, maybe... Once. I would prefer to drill a pilot hole and use a jigsaw to cut a larger circle/hole.

                      by|Oct 11, 2022

A:  I very seriously doubt it. Even cutting through sheet rock it had a tendency to loosen up and jammed.

A:  If it is sheetrock, this will cut trough it.  If you have plaster it may dull the blade but it will cut trough

A:  This will cut thru. Just cut it at a slow speed, i tried to use it on pine wood and the blades burnet .

A:  I’m sure it will, but if you have numerous holes to cut, you might want to use a hole saw. The screws holding the blades on this product tend to loosen. You must be careful if cutting a lot of holes.

A:  It does not cut metal. I used it to cut holes in the ceiling and even when it would get close to a wood stud it would stop.
