Q:I own this exact drill but it was made in 2014, I've attempted to purchase this drill twice and both times received the "new" version that has a completely different chuck, in the video it clearly shows the guy "popping" a bit out with one hand AND putting a bit in with 1 hand. That is the old version, the new ones literally do not do this!!!! I have called multiple times trying to find the old version, scoured the internet for used ones, I CANNOT FIND THE GOOD VERSION OF THIS DRILL!! the new one is garbage compared to the previous version. HUGE amount of wobble AND not 1 handed quick connect AND clearly spun slower/less torque than the previous version! WHERE DO I FIND THE PREVIOUS VERSION!!!??!?!

A:  Check worked fine with one hand. All Milwaukee checks work the same way. Pull out on the bit and sleeve at the same time then push in. Pretty simple.

Q:Milwaukee's manual for this screwdriver is the same manual that also covers the M12 FUEL drill driver and hammer drill driver. Is this screwdriver essentially the same as the drill driver and hammer drill driver, just with a 1/4" shank versus a 1/2" chuck? I'm looking for something that I can set at a very low torque setting (screwing into plastics such as wall plates, light auto interior work, etc) but also crank it up for tougher materials such as wood, and am wondering if the torque specs are truly the same between this screwdriver and the drill/driver and hammer/drill/driver.

    Answer This Question

A:  It is nothing like the hammer drill. But it has extremely light clutch settings ok for most plastics when set to screw and also enough power to drive a 4 inch wood screw into wood with ease when on drill setting.

A:  A 10.8 volt drill, even on it's lowest clutch setting, applies too much torque to plastics. You should use the M4 screwdriver. I use the M4 screwdriver on aircraft interiors without having to worry about damaging upholstery or laminates.

Q:How is the trigger sensitivity compared to the brushed version? Do you feel the feedback (how hard the driver is twisting) when you're using this? With the brushed version, at low speeds, you can feel it slow down a little so you know exactly how much torque you're putting. Is that the same with this tool, or does it just go at a set speed? Also, is the chuck electronic?

        Answer This Question

A:  Incomparable. Brushless is by far smoother, easier to control and more powerful. You can feel it fine and the clutch us nice too. I use this daily in vinyl siding and can either with feel or clutch keep it from stripping the plastic no matter the softness. I also have driven 4 inch screws with no pilot hole into solid wood. By chuck I assume you mean clutch. It is geared friction. Unnecessary overall as well with some practice.

A:  You don’t feel the feedback. It feels set to me. I use for small projects like changing outlets.

A:  On the chuck shown it self ejects the bit if its clean and lubricated. Mine gets sticky after much use. Some if the impact chucks (not shown) have to be held open to insert and remove bits.

A:  You can insert the bit by simply pushing it in and it will self lock without touching the collet. To eject the bit you pull the collet forward and the bit will eject out with a gentle spring action.

A:  This is produced overseas, but, I am led to believe it is designed and engineered here, as are all of Milwaukee Tools, save for the Sawzall, which is produced in the USA. Please do not dismiss this tool for that one reason. It has held up for me for a few years now. It installs screws with a great degree of control. The trigger is very easy to control the speed. I use this more than my impact driver.

A:  Some of Milwaukee’s tools are made in USA and some are made in other countries, e.g. China. I’m not sure about this particular tool, but I can say it’s not “crap.” In my work I have used this drill almost every day of the work week for over two years with no problems whatsoever. This includes the drill, two batteries, and charger.

Most of Bosch is made outside Germany but tools made in Hungary are still better than China. Only made in USA Milwaukee tools we have are at least 15 years old and use cords but they're still going strong. Some foreign countries make great tools: Top tier manufacturing: Austria country know for quality manufacturing Germany Bosch, Festool, top quality tools Japan Makita based here some top quality tools still made here Liechtenstein Hilti is based here some tools still made here USA Mid-tier manufacturing Taiwan Apex group brands like gearwrench and other solid affordable tools Hungary Decent quality a lot of Bosch is made here. A:  Laura, there is no clutch, but even better, it has an extremely sensitive trigger switch that allows precise control of the speed. I have easily finessed small hinge screws into place, and on the opposite spectrum, have driven three inch deck screws with ease. I use this tool more often than I do my impact driver. I love this tool.

The brushless motor is smoother and the drill feels better in your hand. I have been very pleased with Milwaukee Fuel series. One huge thing is that the battery design will not change, so when the battery technology changes, the design to work in older units will not!

A:  I have not used the Bosch, but I am thrilled with the amount of torque and especially the control in driving all screws. It is very easy to slow the speed down with the sensitive trigger to finesse small screws, yet the same ease to drive 3 and one half inch deck screws. For rough work, an impact driver is good, but this screwdriver is for all else. You will have to consider all the tools you can power with the Bosch battery or Milwaukee M12 battery. I have since purchased a few other M12 tools.
