Answer This Question

A:  Yes I got mine at Home Depot. The manager looked it up and special ordered it for me. I had purchased some there months before. And my tile was discontinued... but he found some.

A:  We were never able to find anything to match -- most of the greens were olive, teal or light green. We ended up buying a 2" green glass mosaic tile that we used as accent -- pretty close, but not exact. The two greens actually never touched (we used a great grey as the main shower tile). The final project looked great -- I can mail you a 2x2" tile -- we had lots left over!

A:  Hi jmlsmb, Unfortunately, we do not offer any green tiles in a 4”x4” format that would match our Metro Octagon Matte White with Green. We carry a 4”x4” tile in green, but it’s a different shade of green, our Twist Square Green Kiwi https://thd.co/2sKe1WQ. If you have any further questions, please give us a call at (800)-963-7652. Hope this helps!

A:  It was already on the my bathroom floor, I purchased more to convert my bath to a shower and it is not slipper in the shower either. This is due to an elderly relative who needs a shower.

A:  I currently have this in our bathroom...not slippery at all.

            by|May 5, 2023

A:  I've used this tile on four bathroom floors -- my house and three rental units. No problems with anyone slipping. The black diamond tiles are slick but too small to be of danger, and the concrete separations at varying angles give a bare foot a good grip. That's not to say that someone with serious balance issue won't slip, but I doubt the tiles would cause the problem. I've had these tile floors for about ten years.

A:  Yes, I had this installed in both my bathroom floors and have had no problem with slipping

                by|May 5, 2023

A:  The black tiles are shiny, but the white ones are matte finish; also the tiles are small so you have the "tread" of the grout lines. Fine for a bath floor IMHO. We used these in a restroom but I installed a similar design in a bath at home.

A:  Hi Sam, Yes, you can use our Metro Octagon Matte White and Black on a bath floor with no issue! This mosaic has a glazed, mixed finish which would make it a great option for a bath floor! If the background construction is waterproofed properly, this tile would be a great choice for a shower floor. This tile has a C.O.F. (Coefficient of Friction) rating of 0.6 to 0.79 which makes this compliant with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) guidelines for slip resistance. All C.O.F. means is how slip resistant a tile floor is; the higher the value, the more slip resistant the tile is. Another thing to consider is that with mosaics, you will have more grout joints than a regular field tile. Having all of these extra grout joints can assist with the slip resistance of your installation. If you would like to determine if these tiles are right for you, we offer samples! Please be aware that samples come adhered to 6”x6” sample cards which offer a color and texture sample, not a look at the whole pattern. To be able to see the whole pattern, we recommend ordering one sheet. Please note that variation in color, shade and texture are inherent characteristics of glazed tile. The pattern, shape, dye lot (color) and size of the actual tile received may vary. Home Depot offers a 90-day return policy on all unused items returned in the full quantity they were sold (in this situation, an each). If you have any further questions, please give us a call at (800)-963-7652. Hope this helps!

A:  Hey there, This tile is mounted on the mesh with spaces that are approximately 1/8” from each other. For consistent sizing, you will want to use a 1/8” tile spacer https://thd.co/2taG8Ak. If you have any further questions, please give us a call at (800)-963-7652. Hope this helps!

Q:Is it recommended to use hardibacker over your subfloor before installing this particular tile? I would assume you should, but the installation guide does not mention it at all. It also indicates that it is OK to put directly on the subfloor as long as it is clean and solid. Thank you!

                              Answer This Question

A:  Hi Bridget, While we always recommend using a concrete backer board, depending on your substrate it is not necessary. You can install this tile to concrete, drywall and even existing tile to name a few. Using Hardiebacker http://thd.co/1r230NY can help assure a strong bond for a long-lasting installation. If you choose against using Hardiebacker, you will need to make sure that you have a proper substrate for adhering tile to that is level, untreated and free of cracks. Cracked or uneven substrates can lead to installation trouble down the road, including broken or damaged tile. If you are still unsure of the installation, we recommend getting in touch with a local contractor. If you have any further questions, give us a call at (800)-963-7652. Hope this helps!

                                Answer This Question

A:  Hi Nina, Unlike most of our mosaics, these are dot mounted with glue. There is no reason for concern when these tiles are dot mounted or mesh mounted. Either way, there is consistent spacing when these tiles are produced properly. We only supply Grade 1 products, which do not have inconsistencies like this. We have our similar Metro Broadway http://thd.co/2jTLTOE mosaic which is mesh-mounted. We also have our Oxford series http://thd.co/2k91aIP, which will include an all-white option in the coming weeks if you were still against using the dot mounted items. We do offer samples of this item adhered to a 4.5” x 5” sample card if you wanted to see one prior to making a large purchase. If you have any further questions, please give us a call at (800)-963-7652. Hope this helps!

A:  This tile doesn't have a mesh backing. The parts are joined by little pieces of plastic, and the sheets need to be cut as needed.

A:  Hi Jolene, This tile is part of the Metro series, which has a wide variety of products that are intended to complement each other. There is the Metro Soho Matte White http://thd.co/2bzt9RI which could complement this tile. Keep in mind that even though they are intended to coordinate they may not match exactly because they are manufactured at different times. You can order samples of this tile to see how it coordinates with the mosaic. If you have any further questions or would like information about ordering samples, please reach out to our customer service team at (800)-963-7652. Hope this helps!

A:  I used a glossy white 3" x 6" subway tile also from Home Depot (model U072-36-1N; sku 285291). Until laid, they don't look as if they will be the same color (perhaps because the subway tile is glossy and the floor tile is matt), but when laid and grouted, they blend just fine.

A:  Years ago, I could get a single sheet from the store, but the store no longer carries it that way, and I had to order an entire box. But it's a nice white, matt finish. It's not overly slippery--can be used in a shower floor--and seems quite durable. I've had it down over 3 years and have had no problems with it.
